i got to experience God's amazing workings once again. what a rush it is to realize what amazing things He does behind the scenes.
the past few days i've felt a surge in my desires to learn how to play the accoustic guitar. the majority of my friends can play at least a little and i've always adored the music it makes...so naturally i find myself anxious to play. but for one reason or another i've never been taught. i started making a list [on my bathroom mirror] of the things i want to accomplish before summer ends. and learning to play was close to the top. but i had only expected to see if my roomate would show me a few chords when she'd have the time. little did i realize God had a plan in my simple desire and that He wanted to use it for His purposes right away.
tonight was youth group. i was curious as to how the night would turn out since it was the teens first night without phil (but the night as a whole will be a story for another time). the evening began with everyone sitting down staring at this mysterious guy. he had set up a stand with a beginners guitar book, two guitars and a trumpet. i got nervous. i thought this was a silly advertisement plug for the guy and thought it was going to turn out as a cheezy camp style worship set. it ended up being a very entertaining time! he gave "lessons" but in such a way that everyone got involved (including yours truly) and held everyone's attention. gold star for this guy!
anyways... when he was finishing up he announced that he'd be willing to do group lessons for really cheap and asked who was interested. i raised my hand and noticed reed, james s & c, leeanna and megan were raising theirs as well. i wanted to praise the Lord right then and there. not only am i gonna get the lessons i've been craving but i get to do it with a bunch of my teens! it will allow me to have fellowship time with them on a regular basis all summer long. how fantastic! i absolutely cannot wait.
while i was setting there with guitar in my hand, the guy showing me a few things, it just felt right. you know those times where you find something that just fits?
