these are my thoughts.
i've got some pretty huge thoughts running around my head. what's new, right?
so i've been on this endless search of finding my place. and i always end up feeling the same.
i've got some questions. or maybe it's just one BIG one. do you think God has one cut and dry plan for everyone (calvinist?), that our call can be something like "pick a card, any card" and He'll be with us or is our "calling" something that's across the board and He'll use us anywhere and everywhere no matter where we are?
lets break it down:
does God have ONE plan for each person?
on a broad spectrum yes. we are all called to love one another and God, to help those in need, help people discover this beautiful relationship with Jesus, not only to read the Bible but to live it, etc...
but does God look at each individual person and go, "this is the path you are supposed to follow to the T and if you miss a step, well..." this mentality i personally find to be suffocating and paralyzing. i don't claim to be a Calvanist but i will be honest i do revert to this frame of mind more often than i'd like to admit.
pick a card, any card!
my youth ministry advisor once explained God's purpose for our lives like this to me. i had a lot of opportunities on my plate at the time and he said that sometimes God allows us to pick and He'll bless us and be with us whatever we choose.
what do you think?
a universal calling...
i've been wrestling with this. i know that as a Body we have one calling but as individuals does it matter, for instance, where we are geographically? i can get passionate about just about any ministry/opportunity. there are a few churches in knoxville that i would love to be apart of, the nashville church plant gets me excited, there's a couple opportunities in colorado i wouldn't mind being concidered for, i see how God's blessing my ministry here on the outer banks, etc. maybe that's just me feeling a connection with THE church?
but you know, thinking and looking back on Jesus life, He did have a specific task to perform, certain people to reach, etc.
i guess my bigger question is: why does this have to be so hard?
